Goose Creek Development next to the Rec Center
A little farther afield, but there has been a lot of chatter (good & bad) regarding the development plan next to the Goose Creek Rec. Has any information been given on stores/restaurants going in, changes to the intersection at 52, or cost of high end condos?
New Details on the $2 Billion Magnolia Landing Plan
I got the full walkthrough at the City of Charleston Design Center open house for Magnolia Landing's Phase 1 this week, and there's more here than I expected.
192 acres. 158 Townhomes. 78 Single-Family Homes. Multifamily. Office space. A grocery anchor that's signed but still confidential. A future yacht club with 3 possible directions, including one open to the public instead of members-only. And a bridge everyone calls "the bridge to nowhere" that the person who designed it really does not love hearing called that.
Phase 1 has a 5-year target. Model homes start in 2027.

Dockside
Now that dockside is back in the news, I have a question. I think we can all agree that it will eventually be sold, demolished and redeveloped. And we can all agree that a giant condo tower probably won’t replace it.
All zoning and planning rules aside, what would you like to see it be redeveloped into?
Ashley River Pedestrian Bridge Update:
This week at the city's committee for traffic and transportation, they received a progress briefing showing the Ashley River crossing is roughly two-thirds complete, with a fall 2027 target. A potential change order to connect the eastern landing to the Ashley River Walk and Brittlebank Park is being priced at $13 million against a $10 million target, with a formal decision expected within 90 days. If the alternate landing is adopted, the completion date may slip beyond fall 2027.
