Lowcountry Lowline and Bal Harbour Shops
The Lowcountry Lowline has been in the development stage with not much movement since 2012. This past week, that all changed with City Council granting approval for funds for Phase 1 of the project.
Phase 1 will stretch from Mount Pleasant street to Line Street and consist of
1.6 mile walking path
community park
2 parking lots
Citizens and well as representatives from the the Historic Charleston Foundation and the Coastal Conservation League spoke out in favor of the project at the meeting. A few locals expressed concern over what would become of “The Bridge Spot”, a skate park that was built by the local skate community for the local skate community.
City officials confirmed that the skate part should not be affected by Phase 1 or any other phase of the project’s construction. This is a huge win for the skate community and their beloved bridge spot.
