Coming Soon

A few weeks ago we talked about the Cooper, the new waterfront hotel opening Oct 2025.  But this isn’t the only hotel project in the works.  While these hotels are a little further out, they are pretty note worthy.

Let’s start with the biggest and only “chain” hotel in the group.  And that’s the Four Seasons.

  • Will be built at the former Days Inn site at 155 Meeting St.

  • Luxury accommodations with a mixed-use development including residential for-sale condominiums, hotel & retail space.

  • Up to six stories high with an internal parking structure.

  • Per the Architect’s website, there will be 150 doors, but it didn’t state how many would be condos and how many would be hotel rooms.

The next 2 are sister hotels that will be backing up into each other.  These are the Hotel Acrane and The Preface Hotel.

  • Boutique hotel replacing the Rainbow Market Shops at 40 N. Market St., across from the City Market.

  • Will incorporate the existing retro facade of the Rainbow Market.

  • Amenities: speakeasy bar, spa, restaurant, garden, conference space, and private balconies.

  • Boutique hotel planned for 2 Anson St. near the City Market.

  • Design inspired by architecture seen throughout the Ansonborough neighborhood

  • Amenities will likely include a first-floor coffee shop and/or restaurant with possibly having access to The Arcane amenities as well.

Lastly, we have a hotel taking over the spot where The Alley used to be.  (RIP Alley).

  • 175-key hotel planned for 131 Columbus St.

  • Named for its proximity to the future Lowcountry Lowline Park which recently saw major progress.

  • Amenities: first-floor bar and dining space, underground parking, meeting space, fitness center, and a rooftop terrace with dining.

New hotels are a very polarizing topic here in Charleston.  In fact, back in 2016, there was a proposal for a new hotel moratorium that ultimately got pulled.
